Pennsylvania Agriculture

When we talk about Agriculture, do we really know the information behind it? I am going to be giving some AG-knowlegment to the many men and women farmers here in my beautiful home state of Pennsylvania. This particular blog is on Five of Pennsylvania's most noted revenue generated products.

Pennsylvania's top five agricultural products include, but are not limited to cattle and calves (dairy, beef, and veal), greenhouse and nursery products, mushrooms and chicken eggs.

70% of Pennsylvania's agricultural income is generated by livestock and livestock products. Milk is one of my state's most important product. Next in rank is beef cattle. Then we have chicken eggs, broilers (young chickens), and hogs are also very valuable for generating our AG revenue. Pennsylvania is one of the leading states in milk and chicken egg production.

Greenhouses and nurseries produce 9% of Pennsylvania's revenue products. Mushrooms rank second place, as we produce 8%. Next in line would be corn for grain, hay, soybeans, wheat, tobacco, and oats. As for vegetable production, the largest contributions are sweet corn, potatoes, tomatoes, beans, and cabbage. Then we have had our fruit production, such as apples, grapes, peaches, and strawberries.

The leading manufactured products in Pennsylvania are chemicals. Such as paints, petrochemicals, and synthetic resins. Then we have to mine. Pennsylvania is a leading coal mining state and also the only state that mines for anthracite coal. We also mine for limestone for the usage of cement and roadbeds and also natural gas. Lastly, Pennsylvania also produces some sand, gravel, and petroleum.
